Black Economic Alliance (BEA) has launched the first of an ongoing series of lunch roundtable discussions with elected officials, candidates, policy experts, and business leaders. The purpose of the series is to connect BEA supporters with individuals who have the ability to impact economic policy and business practices. Attendance is on a “first come, first served” basis and limited to twelve guests to foster an inclusive and effective conversation. As Charles Phillips, BEA co-chair and lunch host noted, “A successful roundtable discussion informs everyone at the table. This series is ultimately about access to information and impact.”

October 28th – Discussion with Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) at The Core Club, NYC
A former investment advisor, Senator Peters has made economic issues a priority during his first Senate term. He currently serves on the Homeland Security & Government Affairs (Ranking Member); Armed Services; Commerce, Science & Transportation; and Joint Economic committees. Peters is positioned to be an ally in the protection of black American employment in an increasingly automated workplace. November 22nd – Discussion with Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (D-IL) at WS New York, NYC
BEA supported Congresswoman Underwood in her historic 2018 midterm election when she became the first woman, person of color, and millennial elected from her district. A registered nurse and health policy expert, Underwood serves on the House Committees on Education and Labor; Veteran’s Affairs; and Homeland Security, and is particularly attuned to economic issues related to healthcare and education.
